License Suspensions
Georgia DUI Laws impose an administrative penalty for any driver who refuses to take the test. Refusal results in monetary fines or imprisonment. However, Georgia legislation will seek to suspend your driver’s license. If you are a non-Georgia licensee, your driving privileges are suspended for a period of 1 year with in the state of Georgia.
Invoking the “10-day Rule” is beneficial when a person wishes to contest license suspension by appealing for a hearing within 10 business days after refusal. This may be helpful in preventing license suspension. Failure to “appeal” the suspension within 10 business days will cause a 1-year suspension. It is best to engage a Georgia DUI Lawyer to make an appeal.
