UNDER-21 ALCOHOL POSSESION IN VEHICLE
§ 23224. Under-21 Possession of Alcohol in Vehicle; Misdemeanor.
(a) If you are under 21, it is illegal for you to knowingly drive a vehicle that contains an alcoholic beverage unless:
(1) you are accompanied by an adult;
(2) you are driving the vehicle during regular hours under the course of employment;
(3) you are following the reasonable instructions of your parent or guardian.
(b) If you are under 21 and are a passenger in a vehicle, it is illegal for you to possess an alcoholic beverage unless:
(1) you are accompanied by an adult;
(2) you are transporting the alcoholic beverage during regular hours under the course of employment;
(3) you are following the reasonable instructions of your parent or guardian.
(c) If you violate this section and are the registered owner of the vehicle, the vehicle can be impounded at your expense for up to 30 days.
(d) If you are convicted of this section you can be punished by a fine of up to $1,000 and a jail term of up to 6 months.
