DUI PENALTIES FOR A FIRST OFFENSE
§ 23536. First Offense.
(a) For your first DUI conviction, you will get 96 hours to 6 months in jail and a fine of $390 to $1,000.
(b) If the court decides your punishment is jail time and that jail time interferes with your work schedule, you can serve the time during off-hours from work at the discretion of the court.
(c) Your driver’s license will be suspended (see § 13352) and you will have to surrender it to the court.
(d) If the court believes you would be a traffic or public safety risk if you were granted a restricted license for purposes of work (see § 13352), the court can deny you a restricted license.
